The third day of Christmas commemorates the Apostle John. John is the New Testament writer who develops the idea of the Incarnation. Christ is God the eternal Word, come in human flesh. This Apostle teaches us the meaning of Jesus' birth: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).
